Germany, 1920s

An expressive Art Deco pendant by Rudolf Feldmann (1878 – 1958), gold- and silversmith, member of the German Werkbund. Since 1907 located in Bielefeld, Germany, after an apprenticeship as a goldsmith in Essen, studies at the Hanau Zeichenakademie and years of travel between 1893 and 1907. His more than 30 years lasting artist’s friendship with the expressionist painter Peter August Böckstiegel influenced Feldmann’s creations in gold and silver, leading in 1930 to an exposition with Böckstiegel and Ernst Barlach at the Saxony Art Society in Dresden.
