Manufactured in the lost wax casting technique the design of the solidly worked necklace mirrors the space-age tendencies of its time: Lieutenant Uhura  would probably have been delighted by its futuristic look which seems to be inspired by the control panels of the Enterprise, at the same time displaying a timeless quality in design.

The necklace is a rare early example of the work of jeweller Fernand Demaret (1924-2013) who set up his studio in Brussels, Belgium, in the beginning 1960s and established collaboration with young Belgian jewellery designers such as André Lamy, Claude Wesel, Bernard Francois and Didier Cogels in the early 1960s.

Matching clip-on earrings available.
