The set is entirely handmade of hundreds of small pieces of gold wire which were first shaped into circles, ovals and tiny ornaments, then soldered to make a base skeleton for the settings of the carefully chosen numerous labradorites and moonstones.
Käthe Ruckenbrod (1905 - 1989) is well known for her enamel jewellery, objects and utensils. Their exceptional quality in design and making won her numerous awards (e.g. Hessian State Prize for German Applied Arts in 1953; gold medal Milan Triennale 1954). Lesser known – probably because many of them were either unique pieces or made to order – are her jewellery designs executed in gold with precious stones of which this ensemble depicts an impressive example, displaying both her creative ability and her manual skills.

Due to its (jewellery-) historical quality the ensemble will only be disposed of as a whole.
