Christine (Christel) Dix (1937 - 1982), born Funeck, received her training as a goldsmith and jewellery designer from 1956 to 1961 at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts (Prof. Franz Rickert).
In 1959 she marries her fellow student Jan Dix (youngest son of the painter Otto Dix) and after finishing their studies they open their first workshop in Munich (1961 – 1964), moving in 1964 to Öhningen, a small town near the Lake Constance.
The bangle is a characteristic example of the work of Christel Dix, designed in a seemingly effortless abstracted naturalism, the golden leaves accentuated by irregular shaped chrysoprase cabochons and cultured pearls.
Works by Christel Dix are part of the collection of the Zurich Museum of Design.
